Simple guide to staying on track during vacation.

  1. Prioritize Protein

  2. Exercise (20 min a day)

  3. Walk

  4. Avoid drinking sugary drinks

  5. Relax and Enjoy

I’m going on vacation in a week. A Vacation is one of the leading causes of falling off track. You go away for a week, go crazy, never workout, eat anything and everything and drink 2,000 calories a day.

The trick to vacations is not going crazy. This is one of the main reasons diets don’t work but a healthy lifestyle does.

  1. 1. Continue to prioritize protein. Just cause you’re on vacation doesn’t mean your protein goals should be lost. Eat protein. Lots of it. Remember that it’ll keep you full for longer and is generally less calories than all that other crap.

  2. Do some sort of exercise. Vacation is not a time to put on muscle. It’s a time to keep your head on the game. Thats why I say only exercise for 20 minutes a day. More is a bonus but the idea is to keep your mind and body in the fitness space. It’ll make it much easier to get back on track when the vacation is over.

  3. WALK!  Whether it’s planned walking for exercise or walking to the buffet, WALK. Don’t take the golf cart (if the resort has that). Walking is the single most underrated form of exercise for the mind and body.

  4. You’re gonna drink alcohol. It’s fine. I do it. But don’t mix your rum with coke. Instead have Diet Coke. Don’t drink the strawberry daiquiris. They’re like 300 calories each. And if that’s your absolutely favourite drink, then have 1 and not 3.

  5. RELAX and enjoy yourself!  After all, you are on vacation. 1 bad week doesn’t erase a year of progress!  Don’t stress and just back on the plan when the vacation is over. If you do the first 4 things on the list, getting back into your routine won’t be that hard.
